Local Rules

Rule of Golf ChLGA endorses the RCGA’s “Rules of Golf” with the following additional local rules:

Pace of play All players are required to keep up with the pace of play. Ready golf is highly recommended.

Double par pick up When the number of strokes equals to 2 times par for a hole, players must pick up the ball and mark down on the scorecard as double-par-plus-one.

Putting In order to speed up the pace of play, a player is not required to putt out if the ball comes to rest within one foot (12″) of the hole. It should be counted as 1 stroke for the “gimmie”.

Course Handicap The maximum ChLGA course handicap is capped at 40.

Lost Balls When it is impossible to go back to the original position to play a lost ball, take a 2 stroke penalty and play from the point of entry where the ball is lost.

Scorecards Two sets of scorecards, plus the fun game scorecard and rules will be prepared for each team. All team members must ensure they fully understand the fun game rules before they play. It is also the player’s own responsibility to ensure her own score is accurate before the scorecards are signed and attested.

Missing Tee Time If a player misses her scheduled tee time, she may or may not be permitted to catch up and play the remaining of the round (depending on the golf course). Nonetheless, she is still responsible for her green fee. If the player needs to skip a certain number of holes to catch up with her scheduled playing group, the score for each of the skipped hole(s) will be assessed as double-par-plus-one.

Query Should a rule-related query arises, circle the score box in question and finish the hole. In case of doubt, play two balls and keep separate scores for that questionable hole. After the round is completed, immediately report the situation to the Scoring Committee. The Committee will evaluate the situation and adjust the score if necessary.

Holes Not Played If a player does not play a hole due to “unusual circumstances” (i.e. when a group, or groups of players are asked by a course marshal to skip a hole, or to catch up with the group ahead), her score for that hole shall be par plus any handicap strokes that player is entitled to receive on that hole. When recording that hole’s score, precede with an “X”. The Scoring Committee will make the adjustment.

Example: For a player with a course handicap of 24, she will receive a handicap stroke on each hole, plus an additional 6 from the first 6 allocated handicap-stroke holes. If the player does not play the fifth allocated stroke hole, she will receive a score of par plus two for handicap purposes. However, if the player does not play the seventh allocated stroke hole, she will only receive a score of par plus one for handicap purposes.

The maximum number of holes not played will be limited to 3. If more than 3 holes are not played under any circumstances, the player will be disqualified for that tournament. Any other “unusual circumstances” of incomplete holes will have to be reported to the Scoring Committee for review and approval.

New Rules for 2024 Monthly Games:

So that more well-performing members are recognized in the monthly games, Low Gross (Flight A or B) and Low Net trophies are awarded to 4 individual players.

1. The Low Net Winner and the Low Net 2nd Place trophies are awarded to the players scoring the lowest and the 2nd lowest net respectively.

2a. However, in the event that the player scores BOTH the low gross (Flight A or B) AND the lowest net (or the 2nd lowest net), she is awarded the Low Gross Winner trophy (Flight A or B) only.

2b. The Low Net Winner (or the Low Net 2nd Place) trophy is awarded to the player with the next lowest net score.

2c. The points earned towards the Annual Low Net awards do not change, ie 35 points to the player scoring the lowest net, 30 points to the 2nd lowest, etc.
